Making Life's Choices- Tough and Right
Today I will be doing something that I always hate to do. This action I must take today has been taken by me several times now over the years. I had to make an appointment with a vet for two of my bunnies, Stewart and Goliath, to have them put down. As any loving pet owner knows, there comes that time when you need to love your pets enough to let them go and not make them suffer. This is such a time for my wife and I. Both the bunnies are over eight years so they have lived a long life for their breeds. Choosing to do this is the right choice but it is also very tough. But there are other choices we have to make in our lives that have a far reaching eternal effect which we must make and no one else can make them for us.
Choices! We all make choices about a lot of different things in our lives. What do I want to do for a living? What school will I attend? Who should I marry? On and on we continually have to make choices that directly impact our life and our future. Some choices we face are easy to make. Others are less clear while others are very difficult to make not matter who we are. Some choices we have to make although the correct ones can be very hard to make. It is those choices that always seem to be the ones that usually play a very big part in who we are and what we become. We need to be able to make wise choices and do the right thing or we will end up making poor choices and messing up our lives. I believe that as Christians we need to count the cost of following Jesus no matter people say or do to us because of our faith. It is not always easy standing up to be counted when things are tough. We need to honor God with our lives and we only do that by staying true to Him even in the midst of every difficulty we face. We choose to either be faithful or to move away from God in those times. Think about what Christ suffered when He was crucified! He could have backed out but didn't. He stayed the course and was and has been glorified because He was faithful. We need to follow His example and not be afraid to choose God's plan for our lives no matter the cost! In today's world, it is the time for all believers to choose to be obedient and no longer be afraid to proclaim that we are indeed disciples of Jesus and will not be silenced when it comes to our faith. The world needs to hear the Truth so let's make a choice to speak up and refuse to be silenced anymore!
What choices have you made lately when it comes to your soul? Have you chosen to allow God to have your life and let Him do what He wants to do in and through you? I firmly believe that the time is short before Christ returns for His own. The Bible tells us "Choose this day whom you will serve. But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord!" Once your time is over, you can't go back to do it over! Just as I have had to decide to put my bunnies down to stop there suffering, allowing God to take control of our lives will lead to His blessing our lives beyond what we can ever imagine! Pain may last for a short time but joy will last forever! We will miss you Stewart and Goliath!
